I may be an outlier here, but I tend to view pregnancy and illness (in this case, pneumonia) as reasons, rather than excuses, for missing work. I sincerely hope that, if any of MY co-workers has a bout with pneumonia that they stay home. And, pregnancy...well...I think we have to cut women a break here. Pregnancy is very hard on the body. And performing is also very demanding on the body. I can well imagine that sometimes those things clash and work must take a backseat.

I'm sure it's disappointing to not see a performer that one wanted to see, but that's live theatre. With flesh and blood humans, there are no guarantees. If you need that, go to the movies. The leading lady will always be there, no matter how often or where you see the film.
