I definitely agree with you that Mendez and Groff are not close to the echelon of Harry Potter. But I would argue that Groff is pretty well known, also because of being a principal voice role in the Frozen franchise as well as King George in Hamilton; and his Netflix show Mindhunter was pretty popular with 3 seasons I believe?
And as someone who lives and works in the theatre circles, I would argue that Mendez is a big name in those circles. I can't quite tell if you're not counting revivals like Carousel as "originating" a role, but she did win a Tony award for Carrie. Just two more cents. |
