The nominators nominate who they nominate, in good conscience. there are virtually never snubs. they just see some things differently than some audience members might. They vote anonymously, and the results of their ballots for nominations are revealed on the day that nominations are made public. There are not 50 people in a room horsetrading votes. Seeing 40+ shows, likely taking detailed notes after each show etc (as many regular voters do) is a task that is taken seriously by those who do it. We all have some prejudices about what we consider a great performance - for example, singing at the top of ones lungs on pitch does not qualify one for a Tony, necessarily. here are only so many nominees. Sometimes, as in all awards event, in nominations and winners, there are often a lot of terrific performances jostling for nominations and awards. This can lead to some good potential nominees being left out as votes can get scattered among a large field. Its not life or death. Its just the Tonys.
